berlin-based josef gaard hits the golden ratio on -2929,- an immersive big room track with equal appeals to the mind and body. -rumin,- meanwhile, sees gaard uses techno as a gateway to harsh noise and glacial ambient. avancera (the duo of mountain explosion device boss kalawila and dorisburg) cap things off with a stripped-down remix that emphasizes -2929- s subtle rhythmic menace

an all-time rave classic gets the gerd janson re-loving as he works his magic on the 1992 anthem dont go. 26 years on from it s first release, gerd takes the tempo down a notch laying out that all too familiar drum break, instantly recognisable piano line and julie mcdermott s timeless vocals. his subtle touches and added weight, behind a pounding kick, are sure to set any dancefloor alight. about as euphoric as they get - if this doesn t do the business then god help us all. on the b side, belfast s ejeca flips don t go into a heavy-hitting, rave tinged, techno bomb. his inventive sampling turns the synth stabs and vocals on their heads, making them almost indistinguishable, but no less impactful, from the original. it s over four and a half minutes till the iconic chord progression is heard in it s initial form, before ejeca throws it back into a rapid fire, industrial thumper. lastly, gerd serves up a vip dub mix echoing claps and synth lines into the stratosphere, whilst leaving the vocals at bay, save a short cry of don t go from julie towards the end of the track, allowing those anthemic elements to do the talking. a modern touch on an all-time classic from gerd with a complete reinterpretation from ejeca, this is a heavyweight release and one thats already being played by the biggest and the best out there.

reform, the tuscan techno duo, make a return to etruria beat to follow up the success of 2017s ‘checkmate ep, remixed by amelie lens and their recent ep on second state with a huge new offering - unconventional spaces. reform present three fresh originals, backed by a massive rework from etruria boss luca agnelli. unconventional spaces is a melodic and timeless work, perfect for a magic sunrise closing set. luca delivers a heavier rework, creating a special atmosphere with powerful chords that drift back and forth. just this is characterised by a raw triple stab, a vocal laid down by the guys themselves and an emotional and mysterious break. closing the ep is span, which is composed of bouncing tom samples, straight hats and a moogy bass that develops throughout the arrangement, a perfect peaktime number and strong finalé.

st. petersburg resident kuzma palkin is a busy guy, having recorded music in the past as audiocad, cylindro, plattformer and many more. under his own name hes contributed to russia s respected gost zvuk label, and now he signs up to the excellent ukranian outpost wicked bass to drop some hypnotic and delightfully dusky club tracks to inject a little spice into a minimal scenario. the release kicks off with windy bass, which shares a little rugged spirit with stls sonic style and love of loose swing, before diving down into the misty waters of fordism 0205. exalted flow has a more detailed arrangement that pushes extra detail, sequence wobbles and fx tweaks onto the drums to make for a dynamic rhythm workout. krisis ekktro completes the set with a blown out electro throwdown that will be gold dust to any self-respecting machine funk deviant.

bristol’s finest reggae producer meets doncaster’s number one dancehall mc as mr benn & parly b join forces for an ep chock full of vibes. first up -gwarn go bathe- is a cautionary tale of lacking personal hygene in the dance underpinned by a bubbling dancehall riddim. -heat up- is much of the same as things get hotter, whilst -session cork- slows things down a little with some more laid back vibes. despite working on various remixes together, this is the first time mr benn and parly b have worked in a combination - hopefully the first of many more to come!

ultimate block party breaks volume 6 continues the tradition that began in the bronx in the 1970’s, where “break djs” would take that one part of the record that dancers would go absolutely crazy for. that part where all the music breaks down to nothing but the essence: drums and percussion. these are all truly timeless beats that sound as fresh today as they did when the founding fathers like kool herc, bam, flash and hollywood were catching them for the frst time in community centers throughout the city. we’ve edited and extended these breaks for maximum effect on the dancefloor - so you don’t have to. enjoy!

hello leif mueller on shtum. pleased to meet you. especially with such a strong debut release. everything is starting with the no-nonsense-techno track teleshop which is designed for big room pleasures. on wo ist meine playstation 4? things get a little more psychedelic without losing the straightness you need to get lost in the dance tunnel. cairo is a lesson in keeping goose bumps alive with its up and down galloping synth stabs. to cool things down, the stuttgart based producer drops nightcleaner, a quietly starting ambient affair that evolves into a little acid monster.

londons long standing sunday party purveyors, wetyourself!, drop the second in their vinyl only limited series with wys! co-founder peter pixzel and herr stepping up to the plate. side a serves up two weighty minimal rollers, complete with heavy basslines, pounding kicks, crisp hats and glitchy bleeps. on the flip nexcro maintains that wetyourself asthetic yet teases in some intergalactic synthwork, echoed out to melt any minds its put before. to close out the ep. topup moves down a darker path with a tougher soundscape, haunting synth breakdown and pulsating percussion. wysl002 offers a weighty follow up of four peaktime rollers from the wetyourself! camp be quick, don t sleep!

terrific early 80s album, full of personality and charm, with timely freshness and hybridity (w/ download code)

from uvb-76 music’s fractal personnel rises karim maas. a familiar face behind a new mask, maas, one of the sonic panjandrums at the core of the labels sound submits an aural experience that bleeds between genre and tone with striking ease, negotiating a through line that is hard to pin down in any moment before it shifts again. a stunning ep that remains true to uvb-76 music’s core tenants. four absolute steamers and a huren remix for good measure.

my favorite robots next release is a very special remix by dj tennis. it initially comes as a 10 white vinyl and will then be available digitally in autumn. mfrs ‘barricade was first released on dj tenniss life and death label back in 2012. it was a huge house track that resonates to this day, so it makes sense the taste- making italian steps up to remix it. he is someone with a cultured take on brooding house and techno, as evidenced by the music he a&rs for his label as well as things like his own standout dj-kicks mix from last year. his new remix is a masterfully melancholic one that starts with a delicate ambient synth line hanging in mid air. breathy vocals eventually arrive to send shivers down the spine and finally, deep, rolling, mid tempo kicks bring a groove that carries you away into a reverie. its made all the more mournful and poignant thanks to some broad synth chords and swirling pads later on and is sure to provide a real centre point of any seriously emotional set. this is a stunning and absorbing single and another high point for my favorite robot records.

rhythm is life and life is rhythm. not only is it our mantra here at neighbour recordings, it s also inspired the title of our debut release from brand-new production partnership and label owners base pilot aka quantec and birke tm. featuring four original tracks, the life is rhythm ep is a full thirty minutes of dope, low-slung house that perfectly unites the duo s many years of shared passion for deep electronic music. identify is the ideal introduction, swirling synths and deceptively hypnotic, it s a proper crafty cut, whilst ghosts leans towards a more emotive and subtle groove. title track life is rhythm is a warm and inviting ten-minute epic of chunky beats, quirky distortion and vocoded vocal snatches, whereas closing number on the early is seriously heads-down and deep. repeat after us, rhythm is life and life is rhythm.

columbus, ohio may not be spoken of in the same glowing terms as detroit when it comes to 90s techno from the mid-west. however, the columbus-based 21/22 corp label was responsible for some of future primitive s favourite techno from this era. we ve tracked down the multi-genre president and production manager behind 21/22 corp, charles noel, for our next release. formed of two exclusive productions, this archetype 12- is the essence of techno at its most individual.

new yorks avision makes his debut on ben sims hardgroove imprint with culture, an ep comprising four memorable and kinetic techno cuts and including an edit from sims himself. having previously cropped up on mark brooms beard man imprint, avision (real name anthony cardinale) has a knack for turning in gritty grooves that draw on earthy, discoid constructs and thats exactly what we have here with culture. from the eponymous opener throughout, staccato stabs characterise and propel the tracks in different ways whether via rolling, almost-there disco loops, gleefully abrasive call and response rhythms or, in the case of sims edit of jux, nifty vocal sample interplay. true to hardgroove form, culture is a release crafted for the dancefloor and delivers with exacting precision.
